“Judah Halevi was a Sephardic Jewish poet, physician, and philosopher. He was born in Al-Andalus, in Tudela, in 1075. He was thought to have died in Jerusalem in the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem or Alexandria, Egypt. He is considered the greatest Hebrew poet for his secular and religious poems.” The poem on this sketch was used for a painting in 1982.
