Safad in Galilee (1973), Sepia
14”x18” sepia edition of 10 pcs
The Galilee is a region in Northern Israel and Southern Lebanon. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the west, The Sea of Galilee and the Jordan River to the East. The Jezreel valley to the South, and the Lebanon mountains to the North.
it is the northernmost region of ancient Palestine, corresponding to modern Israel. The Biblical boundaries are indistinct: conflicting readings leave clear that it was part of the territory of the northern tribe of Naphtali.
The Galilee is divided into 3 parts. It makes up much of the north of Israel, totaling one third of the whole country. The sea of Galilee is called lake Tiberias. It is a freshwater lake and the lowest freshwater lake in the world.
The poster was used as a fundraising event for the Guild Gallery in 1984. Pieces were signed, not stamped, with the Schary seal.
