Etching-B/W 6"x9" Edition 50 pieces
In 1965, my Father began working with Miller and Sons, studying lithography techniques. The studio/shop in New York was always filled with many prominent artists with whom the Millers worked and my Father befriended. In addition to a personal health scare in 1964 and the support from my mother and artists in the Miller and Sons studio, my father's confidence was boosted and he became a full-time artist. With my Mother at his side as his business manager, my Father achieved his lifetime dream.
Rosh Hashanah is the New Year in Judaism (Yom Teruah). This small etching edition of 50 pieces was pulled as B/W and very detailed. He often spoke about mastering etching techniques. Rosh Hashanah has every element he strove to perfect. 3 debossed linotypes followed in 1965.
Artistically, Rosh Hashana was an important etching to my father. He used the concept to draw 'High Holidays' as a lithograph, which was released in 1967.
