Remembrance to Rabbi Lowe (1965)
Linotype-B/W 12"x18" edition 35 pieces
Judah Loew Ben Bezalel approx. 1520-1609. Born in Poland. Known as Rabbi Lowe, the Marshal of Prague (Mararal) was an important Talmudic Scholar, Jewish Mystic, mathematician, astronomer, and Philosopher who, for most of his life, served as the leading Rabbi in the cities of Mikulov in Moravia and Prague in Bohemia. His famous work Gur Aryeh al HaTorah is a supercommentary on Rashi’s Torah commentary. He is also the subject of a later legend he created,” The Golem of Prague,” an animate fashioned from clay.
Remembrance to Rabbi Lowe is a Linotype—debossed. This etching is rare in the USA, as most of the 35 pieces are in collections in Israel.
