The Carousel is the actual Carousel on the boardwalk in Coney Island, Brooklyn. Williman Mangels, 1906- 1909, built the Historic carousel with wooden horses carved by Marcus Lillions. It has been refurbished several times and has been located in Luna Park(Brooklyn) since 2013.
We visited Brooklyn one or two times a month to visit relatives living around Coney Island. Every visit was completed by walking on the boardwalk, riding the carousel, and eating knishes.
Carousel captures the nostalgia of the old New York my father loved. The boy on the man's shoulders reminds me of the times my Uncle David carried me tirelessly on the boardwalk, saying hello to everyone we passed.
