“A Prayer” is the second of Emanuel Schary's linotypes. The editions were small, and the work involved in the debossing effect was tedious. The special French paper is intentionally torn—not cut. The debossed pieces are rare, and many have been spread to family members and museums in Israel.
The interesting thing about these early pieces was that they were dimensional due to the deboss effect. It was not until the early 80s that my father created 3d effects (building layers) for some of his paintings. It took months to complete 1 picture.
