1981 was a challenging year for my father due to health issues. He struggled to draw and paint and used a special brace on his right hand and arm. During the year, he completed 2 masterpieces. A Long Thin Line, was pulled for hand coloring. It is the only edition never released in black and white. He hand-colored 50 pieces as an exercise (physical therapy) to help him recover. The concept for this as a painting was created in 1980 but was never completed. He was passionate about the image and spent months drawing and preparing the litho and over one year handcoloring every piece. The title and image are intriguing. The thin line is a term my father used for "between life and death."
